Miley Cyrus Performs Ariana Grande’s ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge

Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande are destined to be BFFs – I’m convinced!

Miley Cyrus and her recent collaborator Mark Ronson teamed up once again and performed an amazing cover of ‘No Tears Left To Cry.”

Here’s the backstory of ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ – This was the first single Ariana released following the Manchester terrorist bombing attack that took 22 lives and it happened during Ariana’s concert in May of 2017.  Ariana then decided to take a break from music and fans wondered what kind of tune she would release following the attack.  Producers Ilya and Max Martin created Ariana a ‘dance-pop anthem accompanied with a U.K. garage beat,’ “She said she wanted to start a song slow in the way that [Gloria Gaynor’s] ‘I Will Survive,’ it starts like a ballad and turns into something different.  Ariana told us, ‘I want it to be positive and talk about positivity and love.  I don’t have any tears left to cry.’  We were like, ‘That’s it! That’s the way you say it!’  There were so many lovely, magical moments, but it was amazing.  I feel like I watched this pop star turn into this true artists, and her song writing developed in extraordinary ways.  And it was a great experience.”  The song went on to become Ariana’s ninth Top 10 single on the Billboard charts.

Mark Ronson then tweeted, “I love this song.  And I loved getting to cover it.  Thank u.”

And it was three years ago Ariana and Miley teamed up and performed a cover of ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House and the last year they both took the stage at Ariana’s One Love Manchester benefit concert.

Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson Releases Video for ‘Happy Xmas’

Miley Cyrus along with Mark Ronson and Sean Ono Lennon recently rook over Electric Lady Studios down in New York and filmed a brand new music video.

The covered the 1972 Christmas classic ‘Happy Xmas’ which was originally written by Sean’s parents, John Legend and Yoko Ono in 1971.

Billboard explains, “Cyrus is decked in a green-and-white shirt with “War Is Over! (If You Want It),” written across the front, a tribute to the billboard campaign John Lennon and Ono paid for as a protest against the Vietnam War at the time of their single’s release.”

According to Variety, “Lennon and Ono conceived the song as both a holiday tune and a protest piece against the Vietnam War. The original music video featured images of Lennon and Ono, as well as Sean, and vocals from the Harlem Community Choir and a boys’ choral ensemble.  The song has been covered numerous times by artists such as Sarah McLachlan, the Fray, Diana Ross, and Carly Simon. During the John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert, Sheryl Crow, Aloe Blacc, and Peter Frampton delivered a rendition featuring a children’s chorus from The Stuttering Association for the Youth.”

And check out the clip (below) of Miley’s TV debut of ‘Happy Xmas.’  Miley, Mark and Sean released ‘Happy Xmas’ on December 14 and get this – a portion of the artist proceeds will all go to Yoko Ono’s charity called Spirit Foundations, a charity she originally started with her late husband, John Legend.

Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson Drop Acoustic Version of ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’

Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson dropped their recent collaboration back in November called ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ and now, they have released a brand new acoustic version and it sounds A-MAZING!

As Billboard describes, “It’s all waterfall guitar notes and wistful strings as Cyrus’ voice rings like a warning bell.  You can almost smell the campfire burning on Western fields and see the stars peeking out of the sunset.  Love my be lost, but it’s also found in the darkening melodies.”

Miley says this record came at the most perfect time in her life.  During an interview with Ryan Seacrest Miley says, “Honestly, I’m in a really good kind of healing place right now.  My dad has always told me, ‘Life is a series of adjustments.  Sometimes we never understand what out parents are telling us until we start to experience life more.  I’m starting to really understand what that means now.  I think experiencing something as life-changing and devastating as a natural disaster, it’s a really deep character challenge, I think, to see the way you react to loss.”

Things are looking up for both Mark and Miley.  Mark was recently nominated for a Grammy (‘Best Dance Recording’) for his ‘Electricity’ collaboration with Dua Lipa, Diplo and Silk City and ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ will appear on Mark’s upcoming album.  As for Miley – she recently tied the knot with long-time boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes performed a tribute together to Dolly Parton at the MusiCares gala honouring the legendary singer!

They made this happen by Miley sliding into Shawn’s Instagram DMs! She says, “I actually sent him a DM and said I don’t know what you’re trying to do next because I’ve actually been in his position in his career too before where you’re someone who I think is trying to fit into pop music and you want to be played on pop music but you don’t want to be conformist and you want to do your own thing, I love the way that he always kind of plays alternative pop because it’s something that I love to do.”

So they got together with Mark Ronson and performed the 1983 duet featuring Kenny Rogers, Island In The Stream.

FIND U AGAIN ft @camila_cabello produced by me & Kevin Parker out now. Enjoy ????

A post shared by Mark Ronson (@iammarkronson) on

During an interview with Zane Lowe, host of Beats 1, he explained how Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, who serves as the record’s co-writer and co-producer sent him the track several years ago and the melody stuck with him all this time, so much that Mark was determined to have this record on his upcoming album, “Then we’re just… until Camila came along and wrote those verses and just sang that thing like nobody sounded anywhere near the person that we’d… we must’ve tried a couple of people, but I don’t know what it was.  When you’re trying to write lyrics to a pre-existing melody, it is very challenging and most people usually just… she just nailed it. She cracked the code. I was just in my brain at a loss, and I was thinking the person that has to sing this song, it has to have such a combination of different things because it’s almost like this laser, the way the voice cuts through. Very few people have that.”

So how did Camila Cabello end up on the track? “I was thinking the person that has to sing this song, it has to have such a combination of different things because it’s almost like this laser, the way the voice cuts through.  Very few people have that.  Rihanna has that.  I remember either hearing ‘Havana,’ ‘Consequences,’ I can’t remember.  Something came on and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, that’s the voice.’ You know,” explains Mark.

Mark continues, “I wrote her a text and explained what the record was about and she loved the whole concept, the heartbreak and the crying-dancing-singing thing.  But when she came in the day to work on it, I really did think that we were going to all be sitting there kind of slogging through lyrics and she’s like, ‘I kind of came up with something last night’ and then she just sang it. The whole shit was perfect. We’re like, oh this is going to be a short session.”

Check out the cute text exchange between Camila and Mark below.

kevin parker is a friend of mine. he’s also one of my favourite music makers of the past twenty years. it can be weird to hang out and be friends with someone whose music you listen to so much. music you might listen to when you’re sad, joyous or just need something to get you through that boring af last 4 mins on the treadmill. and then after all that, you’re just hanging out a couple days later with your mate, Kev. i guess at the end of the day, i make music. i’m around people who make music. some of them have superpowers. whatever and ever, amen etc…. me and kevin were working on some music a few summers ago. There was a dope ass song with @sza we never got to finish (but u can probably find it on the web cause of a stolen hard drive ????) and a demo called “Laurie”—which had a very very memorable, bittersweet melody with no lyrics only mumbles. and the real moment of glory was a minor to major key modulation in the pre-chorus (which became “and now the tears in your eyes…”) that made my hairs stand up every single time it happened. the genius of kevin parker who channels so much r&b influence in his music, to me, it could have been an 80’s Janet chord change. to him, it’s just what comes out. by the time i realized i was making a heartbreak album, i emailed Kevin and said “hey, are u using this for the new tame album? if not, can i try and finish it?” i had to ask him because when i was making uptown special, there was a cute, comic moment when he sent me a demo to maybe fuck with and then asked for it back a couple weeks later. and that song became “i’m a man”… all good, i was more than happy with “daffodils”. anyway, the melody was so fucking good. the sadness, the triumph, the soul, the emo. i knew i had to turn it into something. but the song had no structure, just a bunch of good parts. as usual, i tried 80 fucking drumbeats til i got a good feel for it. and sat on this demo for a minute… a couple months later, on the way to the airport in NY, i was listening to the radio in z-100, hoping to catch a spin “electricity” (shout out @dualipa, @diplo)—it was just starting to get burn— and “never be the same” came on and i was like “THAT IS OUR VOICE!!!”

Last month, Camila posted a photo onto her Instagram page, of her and Mark in the studio.  Her caption read, “I had this idea for a song called “find you again” last year, it came from a lyric I wrote that said “if I lost you, I know I’d never find you again”, when Mark told me he was making a breakup album and sent me the idea he was working on with Kevin from @tameimpala I put myself in the place of actually losing the person. I will jump at any opportunity to be in my late night feelings as u all know. @iammarkronson not only is it an honour to work with you but also you are so kind, humble, and genuine. Thank u so much for wanting to work with me.”

Find U Again is the follow-up to Mark’s collab with Miley Cyrus, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart.  You can find both tracks on Mark’s latest album, Late Night Feelings.

Made up of Mark Ronson and Diplo, this is Silk City’s first single since their 2018 releases, Loud featuring Desiigner and GoldLink, Only Can Get Better with Daniel Merriweather, and Electricity with Dua Lipa.

In a statement to Billboard, Ellie says, “The song is about losing yourself on your own, not needing to be seen, knowing that the one that got away could be just as happy as this too.  The main concept is dancing on your own not needing to be seen.  It seemed only right to make a tune together at a time where we all need to dance and be free, even if just in our kitchens.”

“I’m always stoked to get back in the studio with Mark.  We’ve been constantly trading ideas since the start of Silk City and finally found the time to bring some of them to life. We came out with this classic house record and Ellie was kind enough to lend her voice to it,” explains Diplo.

Mark adds, “I love the music that comes out when Wes and I get together.  It has a joy to it that’s different from everything else I work on. I’ve known Ellie for over ten years, and it’s great to finally get to make something together. Her voice has such a pure tone that cuts through everything.”
